What Is the Function of a Mechanical Bar Screen?

2024-11-13

Mechanical bar screens are equipment used to separate, filter and treat solid waste and particulate matter. They are generally made of metal materials and have a structure of horizontally mounted metal bars or metal grids. This type of equipment is often used in industrial sites such as sewage treatment plants, power plants, and steel plants. Its main function is to separate large pieces of solid waste or particulate matter to protect the normal operation of other equipment. More specifically, the following four uses are more common in the use of mechanical bar screens:

Mechanical Bar Screen

1. Solid waste separation function: Sewage or wastewater often contains a variety of solid impurities. The design of mechanical bar screens is to effectively separate these large-sized solid wastes to prevent them from entering subsequent treatment facilities or transportation pipelines, avoiding blockages, mechanical wear and system failures caused by them.

2. Equipment protection mechanism: Mechanical bar screens can prevent solid waste from invading subsequent treatment links and reduce the wear rate and failure rate of treatment equipment. In sewage treatment plants, mechanical screens can intercept solid waste to ensure that key equipment such as pumps, pipeline systems, and sedimentation tanks remain in normal operation.

3. Particle size control filtration: The bars or grid structures equipped with mechanical screens can be adjusted according to actual needs to achieve effective filtration of particles of different particle sizes. This feature is very helpful in industrial plants and other places where high-precision filtration is required to protect equipment and purify water resources.

4. Pre-treatment stage function: Mechanical bar screens are also suitable for the initial treatment stage of wastewater or raw materials. By pre-separating large-sized solid waste, the processing load of subsequent processing equipment can be reduced, and the efficiency and quality of the treatment process can be improved.
